Song For My Father

The paintings took a little surrealistic turn when my dad passed. Go figure.

Upside down, impossible balance, anger. I suppose these notions are inevitable. So I just went with it, following instincts. Painting quickly.

Dad was a recovering alcoholic, dry for 27 years. He credits AA and his God for pulling him out of the fire. These themes creep into the work. And death always, no?

Still life is death. Memento Mori.
