Starts With A Cabbage
Like I said: self taught. I’ve no sense or right or wrong. But a painting is like a puzzle to me. All of the pieces have to fit and nothing should be missing. A guy once asked me how I could draw things as if they were behind another. I don’t really know. That’s how my brain works.
But I feel like that’s one of the tricks of still-life: to depict life in three dimensions. To paint the backs of things, as it were. To image your hands moving around the objects. What is the light doing back there?
